Arnaud might have overthought it and that from the moment he decided to text her. As soon as the idea came to him, he heard his mother in his head telling him that it was stupid. Stupid and dangerous. Roxana might have previously said that she would not throw him into the camp until she paid him back but she might decide that paying him back just meant not taking him in the first time. But Arnaud also thought she was the best way for him to get some info about the place. It wasn't like he had anyone to share it with or intended to attack the camp. It was for his own curiosity. And perhaps he would gain some leverage on the woman so that he could avoid being snatched by her in the future. He better keep that debt she had towards him for as long as possible, and if he could make it bigger, it was even better.Hence why he heard his mother call him stupid in hi head. She might not be wrong. But Arnaud didn't plan to listen to that voice. And so he tried to find a way to lure her in. He thought about what to send her. He was certain she wouldn't want to meet with him to just chat. And he had a feeling she wouldn't take humor too kindly either. After writing a deleting his text a couple of times, he finally stopped thinking too much about it and sent her something. To his surprise, she agreed and he didn't even need to whine and plead too much beforehand. Didn't even have to argue this was part of the debt, even if they brought it up. The first part of his plan was done. He wanted to take her someplace she would be comfortable. He knew she would be on her guard towards him. She knew of his ability, or at least she knew enough to know he could bend her to his will. That would make using his power more difficult. And he didn't think she was the kind to react to flattery or flirt well enough for it to work. His only other sure option, in his mind, was alcohol. He hoped she was a lightweight. He sent her the address to a restaurant. It wasn't too fancy but offered enough intimacy he hoped for their conversation. Anyway, he planned on being as evasive as he could if she ever brought anything that could imply he was a mutant. And with some luck she will drink enough for her to be more talkative than she should be. Then again, if she was this accomodating already, maybe she was ready to talk without too much extra help. He left to the restaurant after being done texting her ready to put his plan in action. MADE BY ★MEULK

I WON'T PLAY YOUI WON'T FACE YOUR FATE AGAIN. Roxana hated this, not the interaction or anything like that but the fact that she owed someone. It was never good to owe anyone anything, ever. Plain and simple. If only she had not gone out that night; she was ordered too, and it was not like really anyone knew her ultimate weakness. She honestly was not even sure if Arnauld fully understood her weakness or the information that he already had on her was more then enough to bend her to his will. She was just thankful that he didn't seem to concerned about how he managed to help out a Guardian and seemed more concerned about making sure she did not turn him in.
As long as her never put two-and-two together the dangerous information he had on her, she had not real problem interacting with him and not turning him in. It was more so the...fear, of him figuring it out and again the fact she owed him. When his text came in, she had sort of been hoping she could do something with him that he would call it even. Clearly he was not the type that wanted to have her debt free of him. He was smart in that aspect, she would give him that. Talking with people was not really a skill of hers, but it was what he wanted to do, so they would do it.
Plus she could eat and she honestly did not mind socializing now, in the past yes but time had changed her. More accurately, certain people had changed her and while punishments kept her in line on the outside, on the inside she had certainly changed. The moment she received the address, she was already on her way to meet him there and as luck woudl have it she was not too far away from it. She had already bee out walking around, trying to clear her head and figure out this nagging feeling she had been dealing with for a while now.
There was only one person she could talk to about the past and well, they had their own things they were dealing with and Rox didn't really know how to...vent. She had not been to the place before, but she was hungry and figured this interaction would not be to bad. She still was uncertain if he would try to use his powers or if she was going to be captured by a group of rebels or something, but she was confident she could handle it in the end. Plus Arnauld didn't seem like the type to play games like that, but well it would be the perfect cover.
"Normally when you invite someone to a place, you are there before them." Roxana would say as she would see Arnaud approaching. She had not beaten him by much, in fact she had just arrived a minute or two before him. Still was going to point that fact out, partly to see how he would react and also because it was the truth. How to make the most out of this situation? It was not something Arnaud thought at first, all too happy to get out of there without a bag on his head and being thrown in a black van - or whatever way these so-called Guardians snatched mutants these days - but it grew over time. How lucky was he to have a Guardian who felt indebted to him! He needed to be careful on how he’d use it. He thought his best course of action would be to take as long as possible before calling in a favor, but just sitting here casually reminding him that she owed him now and then was not enough. He needed to give her more reasons not to turn him in the second she was free of her obligations towards him. And while trying to be friendly with her to give her more qualms about sending him to his death, he figured he might learn as much as he could about her. Like this, if friendship was not enough, maybe some more basic blackmailing could. He was raised by a master manipulator, he learned a thing or two if he was not as good as his mother. Roxana was already there when he arrived. For how long had she been waiting, he had no idea, but she did point out that he should have been the one there first. “I had to walk all the way here from my place. I did say thirty minutes or so, no?” he replied, pulling out his phone, not to look at his text for he was sure that was what he said but at the time. “It was just more on the ‘or so’ part’,” he admitted as he put the phone back. He had no problem telling her he walked from his home. He bet it was an information she could easily get. Besides, he did take the bus as well in case she still had no idea where he lived exactly so what he said would not necessarily help her. He forgot about that for now and smiled at him. Everything he would be doing around her might be staged but that didn’t mean he couldn’t give the best performance he was able to. “I’m glad you agreed to come. And alone.” How easy could it have been to use this to lure him into a trap? He wondered if she thought the same on his part. “Shall we get in already? I kind of worked an appetite on my way here.” He was already getting in. He was hoping they could get some table in a corner. They didn’t need to have too many people able to listen to their conversation. He might be paranoid here, but eating with a Guardian put him on edge a little bit. MADE BY ★MEULK

I WON'T PLAY YOUI WON'T FACE YOUR FATE AGAIN. The young man gave an excuse as to why he was late, even if he was the one who had planned for them to meet there. She supposed it was valid reason as to why he was late, but it still did not excuse the fact that he was still late in meeting here. "Should always arrive earlier then planned." Roxana pointed out. If you were supposed to be somewhere in an hour, you ate least got there fifteen minutes before the hour came. At least that was how she was raised and how most places she worked for operated on but there were always exceptions. Like that person who would arrive right at the time agreed upon and then that person that was always late, calling it 'fashionable' which she didn't see how the two related.
Still, she was not going to give him too hard of a time, he was here and that was all that mattered. Of course she took a mental note of the fact that he said he walked here from his home. If he was telling the truth she could get a rough estimate of where he lived based upon the time he sent the text and how long it took for him to get here. Perhaps she would do it in her free time, but honestly she was not too pressed to find out where he lived. She was certain if she really wanted to know, she could just follow him, or have someone else follow him for her and report back.
When he pointed out the fact that she was alone, well it didn't make her feel as at ease as she was before. Did he really have something planned? "If you don't want me to betray my debt with you right now, I suggest you not eluded to the fact that I came here alone." Roxana pointed out. She was all for paying her debts but if Arnauld was going to stab her in the back, then all debts were off. "But yes, alone." Roxana did confirm, making sure that her words made it clear that she was confident that even with his power she could handle the situation by herself.
"After you." Roxana said gesturing towards the place, which she clearly didn't need to do since Arnauld was already on his way in. The place didn't seem too quite and with one gesture towards the corner was enough for their server to get the idea and take them to their own little space. You could vaguely make out what others were saying if you paid attention, but other then that it was not too bad. "Water." Rox replied before the server could ask what they would be having to drink. It was hard to read Roxana. Arnaud thought he was fairly good at this but he couldn't quite say this about her. Maybe he should expect her to be guarded, she knew what he was capable of, but he also found her rather stiff. He didn't know her enough to tell if she was teasing him when arguing he should have arrived earlier or if she was really that hard. "I'll remember that the next time I want to meet with you," he simply added. There was no point in arguing. He didn't want to antagonize her. Anyway, he was taking this lightly. If he had to arrive late, he would and he didn't really care how others felt about it. Still, he'd rather have her in a good mood, if he wanted her to talk. As he briefly mentioned his home, he wondered if she was already aware of his palce of residence. To him, she was part of the government, so he assumed there was nothing easier than just look that up. But he was curious whether she took the time to look him up or not. He supposed there would always be a time to ask her during the meal. He was surprised that she got so unnerved by his comment. His brow rose up in surprise. "I was just pointing out how easily you could have turned it into a trap for me, is all." Arnaud had no affiliation with any group of mutants that could be referred to as rebels. He minded his own business. The only mutant who may order him around was his mother and he never bothered to tell her about Roxana. He was relieved when she admitted being alone. She could lie, of course, but he chose not to believe that. "You're not the kind to like it when men open doors for you, do you?" he teased as she gestured for him to walk into the restaurant. He still made sure to hold the door until she at least got a hold of it herself before getting in. Arnaud was glad they could get a place in a corner. He didn't care if there were better places, it was his ideal spot for this meeting. Definitely better than being at the bar, for sure. Arnaud was interested in ordering alcohol, of course, but Roxana chose water. Then again, they just walked in and would have to look at the menu, so he ordered the same thing for himself. There would still be time for this later. "I'm surprised the government let people like you walk free. You are like those in the camps, I would have thought they kept you on a tight leash whenever they are not unleashing you on your prey." he told her as he sat down, his eyes down at his menu rather than herself. I WON'T PLAY YOUI WON'T FACE YOUR FATE AGAIN. Roxanan would not have really called it arguing, but perhaps it was. Most of the time she would just not say anything, so perhaps she was indeed arguing. His response made it feel like he really didn't care all that much, which was fair. It was not like people would die if he was late. Well they could, but if people were dying because he was late it would be best for him to be late so he would not die as well. Next time. Yes, there would be a next time they would meet given he made it clear this would not clear her debt. Rox gave a simple nod, but she was not confident he would actually want to meet again.
Perhaps he would learn a better use for her to pay him back and call the debt clear. Time would tell. He was surprised by her response and in tern she was surprised that he was surprised. That made it pretty clear that he had no intention on luring her into a trap, which did cause her to ease up a little more. It was hard to tell who really had your back and who did not. "You're right...I apologize for threatening you. I can't help but to be on edge due to my debt with you and the way the world is now." Roxana replied back, honestly. She was sincere about her apology as well, feeling rude that she went there when that was not Arnaud's intention. It was weird interacting with people who were not 'playing the game' as she was.
At his tease it took Rox a moment to register that he was teasing, which caused her to adjust her response, but not by much. "I does not matter to me. If my hands had been full and you didn't open the door for me I would have thought it rude but it would not matter what your gender was, it just being polite." Rox replied. He could have been a girl and if her hands were full she still would expect him to hold the door open. Didn't matter about men being nice to women, it was everyone be nice to everyone. Plain and simple. At least he had manners, he was making a better impression of himself by the minute, which just added to Rox feeling a little more at ease as she walked in and made herself slightly comfortable but still ready to get up and run if need be.
She picked up her menu the waiter left behind just as Arnauld brought up the government and camps. No doubt he was looking for info and she supposed depending on what kind of info it was, it did not hurt to talk about it. "I'm a special case and even if they did have someone following me, I would lose them. I don't like being followed." Roxana informed him. There were of course people looking after the mutants they had working for them but at the end of the day the government could only control them so much. They didn't really have leverage with Rox, she honestly could do whatever she wanted but more often then not she followed what she was told. She was born and raised to do so.
"Could be the same for you too. All depends on if you can prove yourself more useful then in the camps and if they have some leverage over you just in case you decide to go against them. You would be surprised how many mutants actually work for them of their own free will." Rox pointed out, laying her menu down once she decided what she was going to get and just need to wait for the waiter to come back. [googlefont=Bitter]

Arnaud was glad she was not complaining over the prospect of meeting him at least one more time. He had no idea if he could make a friend of her. Hell, he was not even ssure if he wanted that! But he definitely could see the use in her and didn't feel like getting rid of her just yet. He didn't want to be sent in those camps. Even if it really was the perfect mutant-friendly place they advertised it to be, he wouldn't want to, but Roxana slipped the fact he might actually die in there and she apparently had scruples to send him there, at least as long as she owed him something. All this was really just for his own personal gain. Arnaud was used to have people look up for him and take care of things. Roxana could be one of those people. He just needed to be careful on how he played it, and tonight was the first step to his plan. He was hoping for her not to be too guarded the whole night. She knew his power could be used against her, which was why he didn't want to use it. Since she could expect it, he bet her defenses would be up, making her harder to manipulate. He didn't know how relaxed she could be either, so he wondered if guarded was just her natural state. He could swear it was, but at the same time, she didn't argue when he invited her. He honestly didn't think she'd want to. He nodded to her. "I can get that. To me, I feel like I'm the one the most in danger here, but I suppose you only have my words to believe it." Arnaud was not affiliated with anyone who might want to attack a guardian, at least not that he knew of. If one did wish them harm, it would be for a personal grudge, but, as he just told her, she only had his words to believe it. At some point they would have to start believing each other, but they were not there yet. "I swear my request was really just for a meal."He didn't think she was much for humor. She didn't take it the wrong way, it was good, but she was no comedian. Practical then, that was what he assumed of her. "Good to hear. You never know these days, with those feminazis who see gender superiority in just being polite." Arnaud had the perfect answer to those women, but he didn't think using his power right now would be very smart. Arnaud didn't know exactly what he would take but the menu alowed him to find a few interesting things as he waited to see whether she would answer him or not. So far, she was a lot mroe accomodating than he expected. "That makes two of us," he stated about being followed. He didn't expect her to basically offer her a chance as a guardian. He was not quite sure she wanted him to say yes though with the way she talked. "Your sales pitch is terrible." He didn't think he was of those fighting for the mutants' rights, more for his own freedom, yet he didn't know how far his survival instinct could take him in turning his back on everything and everyone. He didn't hate the mutants who chose to do it though, he could see what could lead to that. "And what made you choose that, your free will or they had something against you?"MADE BY ★MEULK

I WON'T PLAY YOUI WON'T FACE YOUR FATE AGAIN. It seemed like he accepted her apology, which she was happy about and even let a small smile appear on her face, if only for a moment. Such a short moment that if you blinked, you would probably miss it, but she smiled and not only for him forgiving her. She also smiled or more so smirked because it was clear that he really did not know just how much power he had over her. Perhaps he had not put it together about her having been helpless that night, a guardian at that. Or maybe he assumed that she had been playing around and didn't use her powers because she didn't want people to see them or maybe he thought she had to follow certain rules.
The latter would make the most sense, given his earlier question. It was because she didn't really know just how much this guy actually knew and how much was just surface letter that it was hard to fully trust him. Hard to let her guard down completely, not helped by the fact that his power was used to manipulate. "You are in no danger from me, as long as you are not a threat to me. As long as that remains, you are probably the safest you have ever been in your life right now." Roxana replied as she looked at one of her hands for a moment before letting it rest on top of the table and mess with the menu while she waited for her water to come back first.
"Not to assume of course, you probably do well enough given your ability." Roxana added after a moment. He swore he really just wanted a meal, so she was going to have to take his word for it. She didn't say anything, didn't even nod but she heard him. "I think that just comes down to people wanting attention." Roxana replied, shrugging her shoulders a little. She didn't really understand it. They were all human...or mutants, there were so many other things to get worked up about other then who was supposed to hold a door open or not. She personally had way more important things to worry about then that sort of thing.
Blue eyes looked at him silently for a moment as he agreed with the notion that he didn't like to be followed. Rox figured that many people didn't. There was nothing really behind the look, she was just watching him, trying to figure him out and not really making an effort to hide it. She blinked several times when he pointed out that her sales pitch was terrible. "...I suppose it was. It's hard to convenience someone to join a group that wants to capture all mutants and label them by a color. History had something like this happen in the past and the end results were...well I'm sure history classes still teach it." Roxana replied, picking up her water and taking a sip now that it had arrived and the waitress was ready to take their orders.
"Then Chicken Caesar Salad, please." Rox informed the waiter, looking for Arnauld to say what he wanted next. His question didn't really catch her off guard, it was just a question that a lot of people kept asking her and she still felt like she didn't know the real answer to give. She didn't know why, she just did it because she was told to because it was expected of her. Yet, she felt like there had to be another reason or was she so obedient that her reason really was because she was told to? "I...I want to say a little of both..." Roxana replied after a long silence. She wanted to say that it was both...but could she? [googlefont=Bitter]

A smile. That was another thing he didn’t expect from her. Maybe he should stop being surprised and just accept the fact he knew nothing of her and that she was nothing like what he imagined. Well, maybe not nothing but definitely not all that he first thought. He considered that a good thing. That would make bonding with her all the more easier, right? He hoped so. He nodded at her... warning? He took it a bit as a warning, with her basically telling him not to try anything on her if he didn’t want to suffer for it. Still, the idea that he could be dangerous was a tad laughable to him. He never tried to see how far a person could go under his suggestions but he did know what they could end up doing when having too much of his pheromones. “I like safe,” he first answered. He shrugged, an amused smile showing on his lips for a moment. “Anyway, I find my ability is more a threat to me than others, so you’re safe on that end.” That was mildly true. He could use his power if he thought it could be useful to him. It wasn’t like she’d go completely obsessed with just one time. Unless she was up for a re-enactment of Misery. He sure was not. He also did not fully control his power but he was making efforts tonight not to accidentally trigger it. Another amused smile brushed on his lips. “I hope you’re not assuming I get dates only thanks to that and none of my natural charm,” he teased her. He wasn’t here for a good stroke of his ego but he took it nonetheless. If that was one. Maybe not, but it certainly amused him. He didn’t think her tone implied he got everything in life because of his power alone and so was not annoyed by it. Arnaud felt her gaze before noticing it. He stared back at her for a moment. He didn’t know what she was thinking but if she wanted to size him up, he’ll face it. He brow arched up slightly as she admitted how bad she was at selling this whole guardian deal. And then made it even worse. “You mean like the Japanese with the Chinese? Or you wanted to go all Germans against Jews here?” He wasn’t quite sure which one of these options was the most tempting. He had turned his gaze towards the menu for a second after saying that but brought it back on Roxana. “You realise what you just admitted being, right?” Then again, the lesser of two evils, as she more or less explained earlier. Arnaud didn’t blame them for turning against their kind, he just didn’t see the point of this force in the first place. With the waitress back, they had to stop the conversation while they ordered. “Chicken cacciatore for me,” he added once Roxana ordered. With that out of the way, they could jump back into their conversation. He didn't expect her to admit they held her by the throat but her reply intrigued him. Not only did it take a moment for her to say it but to claim in was both... A spark of curiosity lit up in his eyes. He didn’t know how he could ask her what she meant by that in a way she would want to answer. He came to the conclusion that he couldn’t and that he should leave it at that for now. But he’ll make sure to remember it and see if he cannot make her talk later. “I bet this annoys you more than if it was really just one,” he simply replied. How can you say you really had a choice when one felt forced upon you? MADE BY ★MEULK

I WON'T PLAY YOUI WON'T FACE YOUR FATE AGAIN. Roxana honestly was starting to feel that Arnauld was not such a bad guy after all, clearly he was only using her but if he was not then it would be even harder to interact with him. Roxana never really knew how to deal with people who didn't want to use her in some way, that was the way of the world. She just hoped she was appreciating him being...well honest and that it was not his power making her feel a little more at ease. It very well could be his power, but she hoped like most users that had abilities that effected others mentally and physically that if you were on guard against it; it would make it a bit more difficult for you to be effected by it.
"Hmm..." Roxana let out a thoughtful sound at Arnauld's statement about his power being more dangerous to him then it would be to her. Was that really true? To have someone bend to you will in a way was a pretty powerful ability but they all did have their drawbacks. "I suppose if someone became obsessed with you to the point they wanted to kill you so no one else could have you...that would be a drawback. Does your power even go that far?" Roxana pointed out and then asked. She knew his power; yes, but not the specifics of how it worked for him and the negatives. Others could have his power and it work differently, so she didn't want to just assume.
His next comment might have made her chuckle, if Rox was the kind of person that would just casually chuckle. She was not, but she did get that he was joking. Or...was he? "I would assume it plays some role in it, but you are not bad to look at so natural charm could play a role." Roxana replied after thinking on it for a few seconds. Could she say he was attractive? Maybe, she was still not certain on the whole liking people outside of it being her job to like them that specific kind of way. She had...crushes you could perhaps call them but she could at least pinpoint it was not looks that made her start to feel that way. Everyone seemed average until she got feelings for them, which she highly doubted would ever happen again.
Rox didn't mind him staring back, he was probably doing it to show he was not going to back down, but his only two options where to stare back or avoid eye contact. Arnauld stated what she was hinting out when talking about how it was hard to convince people to work for the Guardians. "Any of them could work in terms of a comparison. Humans honestly don't learn from history. It all repeats over and over, just someone new is the target." Roxana replied, taking another sip of her water. They were not killing all mutants, but they were certainly killing 'Red' ones and they had them in camps, and labeled them with colors. How could one not make the comparison? Did she realize what she just admitted being?
"I'm nothing but a solider. When the next stage to this all happens, I will continue to be a solider. Forever." Rox replied. Not that she was not trying to accept blame or anything like that, but it was the truth. She didn't have a side, she just followed the orders she was given. And the ones who gave the orders didn't have a side other then 'the betterment of them', so to speak. At least food would be coming soon enough with both of them having ordered now. To think she came here to talk and expected to be asked more personally questions and now they were on the topic of the state of the world and how it was all to similar to events in the past.
She desired a subject change, if only to not have to think about it all, to feel that odd sensation in her gut thinking about how before this happened how she played a role in it happening in a way. Was it more annoying then if it was just having to deal with it being just one of the options? Rox didn't answer, she didn't even look at him. Her blue eyes remaining on her water as one of her hands closed into a fist, creating a crystal animal within her hand as her mind wondered for a bit.
"How can you just stay out of it all?" Roxana asked. She understood the whole concept of being under the radar and looking out for yourself, but she didn't understand how he could just avoid it all. Not in the literal term but how he didn't feel the need to put a stop to it, to join it, or well anything besides just live his life. [googlefont=Bitter]

Would she believe what he said regarding his power? He honestly believed he was the one who would suffer the most from it. It was true that he could make someone do pretty much anything he wanted, but the person would still remember it afterwards, and with people like Roxana who was aware of what he could make her do, the consequences could be bad for him. He didn’t have enough experience to view it as a powerful and useful tool. “Up to killing?” he repeated after she asked him about the effects his power can have. He thought about it for a second. “Well, I hope it will never go that far. I did end up losing a job because an ex chose to punch my boss in the face certain that we were flirting, but I usually try to avoid going to that extent. You just never know what people can do though,” In a way, he was glad it didn’t go further than that. He managed to avoid more obsessive and dangerous behaviours, but he knew a better control of his ability would make it even easier to achieve. That was not something he planned to talk about with Roxana however. Her idea to help him may just be to take him to the camps. Or train him and call her debt paid. She might not have laughed but he certainly smirked at her words. “So you’re saying I’m good looking uh? Thank you, you’re pretty easy on the eye yourself.” Oh, he was making fun of her comment, true. He didn’t care whether she found him attractive or not. It would definitely make his job easier if he wanted to use his power though and so he chose to keep that fact in mind even if he didn’t care much otherwise. Could he just flirt with her and that would work? He still didn’t think it would, even if she found him handsome. He just could not see her as the kind to act stupidly out of a crush. Maybe he was wrong, but he thought she was too guarded for him to simply smile and get anything he wanted from her. There was another parallel to make with the Nazis and he was tempted to claim that surely a few of them didn’t think they were doing more than their job and nothing bad. But there was something else in her statement that he caught, and he thought it was more valuable. “The next stage? I see, you’re thinking ahead. If the tides turn, you’re ready to do too.” He hoped it was what she meant. It was what he got at first but as he said it, he wondered if she was not hinting to the fact the government had something else in store for the mutants that they were preparing. How far gone did you have to be if you were ready to continue fighting against your own even when they started to get the upper hand? Then again, he didn’t see them winning anytime soon. But what did he know? He was not privy to their plan, if there was even a plan. Or a ‘them’ for that matter. He looked at her with some naivety and surprise in his gaze at her question. Yes, Arnaud was trying to stay out of this. He didn't feel himself involved in this as long as he was not directly targeted. In truth, Arnaud was still used to his mother taking care of everything, as she did when he was a kid. He was no longer living with her but she had had such an impact in his life than on many levels he was still very careless. He thought about it. He had no answer to give her, he felt, other than that he just did. He tried to come up with something else. “I guess... I just feel no desire to join one side or the other. You said it yourself, I don’t have a lot of chances on yours and I can’t really see anyone fighting against you winning easily.” He didn’t find his options as very good, whichever he took, so why take any? He shrugged at this, giving her a tiny, amused smile. “I think it’s pretty obvious I’m more a lover than a fighter.”MADE BY ★MEULK

I WON'T PLAY YOUI WON'T FACE YOUR FATE AGAIN. The young ma had a hope that his power would never go that far, but it didn't seem like he knew for certain if that could ever be a result. Well, even in uncertainty she could still see how it would be dangerous and by his story of how he lost his job showed it still came with its risk. However, that did bring up the question again with what he used his power on if he said that it was all just his natural charm. Or was that the aspect that he could not control, that when he was with someone his power leaked to them in a way? Roxana was not certain why she even cared about the details of his power and a part of her didn't want to ask. If she knew, she would have to report it, and if she reported it that would just increase the chances of someone wanting Arnauld for their own person use.
"Indeed. Can never be too certain how people will react." Rox replied and left it at that. She was certain that Arnauld knew it would not be wise to use his powers on her and she hoped he would keep that sense of intelligence about him. All she knew for certain was she was happy she had a physical ability and not a mental one like others she had met. It felt safer to have the control over your ability physically, tangible, and in your hands then it just being there and only seeing the effects but not the power itself. Rox blinked several times at Arnauld response to her not calling him ugly and that she herself was easy on the eyes. Easy on the eyes? "Well, I mean you have features that most would find appealing and likely result in good looking children." Roxana pointed out.
Granted looks was not how 'relationships' worked in her family. It was all about their mutants powers and what they would likely pass down to their children. He would not be an ideal partner by her family standards. "And...thanks?" Rox then said, relaxing she didn't thank him for the complement. It was weird, getting a complete from someone she was not tasked to seduce or anything like that. She was not certain if she liked it or not and that confused look was clear on her face for a moment or two before she sipped at her water again and regain her composure. She certainly was not the type to lose herself over a crush, or at least not lose herself in wanting to do anything for them. More so lost in who she actually was and having an identity crisis when it came to caring for someone outside of 'the job'.
"Always have to think ahead. No one holds power for ever, things always change. It's the way of the world." Roxana replied as she shurgged her shoulders sightly. Now what side she would end up on, she could not say. Mainly because she honestly didn't know, she just followed orders so it was hard to say where she would end up. She could make guesses but she had been wrong before on what her organization wanted. She knew they would go for this route because the more information they had on mutants, the better. If he was expecting more out of her on that subject, he was going to have to try a lot harder. The look she received from him by her question was too be expected, but she was still curious as to what he had to say. Before he started talking their food arrived and Rox already started to take a few bites, having actually gotten pretty hungry with this whole conversing thing going on.
"Thinking like that is what lowers your chances. Lots of battles have been won by the lesser number on the belief of winning alone." Rox pointed out. That was not like the full story of it, but it felt right. Humans themselves were a great example of just the drive to survive and get what they want, it led them to be at the top of the food chain. The power to just keep going at something no matter how difficult the odds were against you was what changed things more often then not. "Plus lovers don't live that long. Unless you are a lover of the ones with the power." Rox pointed out, followed by taking a few more bites of her salad. She was certain he could infer that the best lover to have in this case, would be the on who he knew would win in the end. He was already applying it in a way, by having her owe him he was aligning himself to a 'side' that would ensure he was safe. [googlefont=Bitter]

Arnaud had only started to see the nastier side of his power. Much like everything else about it, he was still learning and experimenting. He managed to notice how the effect fully wore off after a time, that was something. While not having grown cynical enough to not trust anyone’s emotions towards him, he considered himself too young to unite his life to another person. He was fine going from one person to another without blaming his power for it. He found monogamy something too hard and complicated to do anyway. He nodded as they both agreed. “Anyway, you can grow over your obsession with time. At least you can with me, so I just put distance and never suffered too much from it.” Even if he did, Arnaud was quick to say it was due more because of his power than the other person. It might not be the right way to think but it was how he saw it. His situation was different from others who may live in an abusive relationship, and he believed he could walk away more easily. He was amused by her reaction. He bet she had not been called cute or beautiful very often. The way she acted, it gave him the impression she had more often been praised for her abilities than her looks. It gave him the desire to keep pushing in that direction and see what happened. Maybe later, for he had the feeling she would simply blow him off for now. But as she mentioned children, he had to laugh and continue. “Talk of children already? You don’t lose time, do you?” He knew she was not saying she wanted good looking babies with him but he simply could not pass it down. Good thing this was not a real date or else she might have sent him running the other way, talking of kids before they even started eating. As expected, she was a practical girl. That would then mean she didn’t believe she would work for the government forever, or at least would have no qualms switching sides if that proved to be the best option for her. “I bet they wouldn’t like hearing that,” he let out. He was not threatening her, the thought came to his mind and he voiced it out loud. “Then again, I’m sure they figure something like that could happen. You did say they can follow you. Do they now or you were allowed a break?” For a brief second, he wondered if he was in no threat because he decided to play Roxana and invite her here. Would he suddenly attract their attention? He should have thought of this first. It was too late now. He will have to rely on his power if that happened. But why couldn’t they believe she had just a date? He didn’t want to stress over this and did his best not to. There were just so many reasons for them to meet anyway. “It’s also what made some lose,” he pointed out. Believing you will win no matter what can make you arrogant and pass on important details. He preferred to let Roxana believe he was biding his time before choosing a side than to admit that he never had to take that kind of life-defining decisions before and was still too used to others taking it for him. For now, he saw nothing interesting enough for him on either side so he opted for a low profile and see what would happen first. He was pushing away the mushrooms in his plate to see just how much chicken he had in there, and also if he had other vegetables from tomatoes and mushrooms. His comment about him being a lover was meant as a joke but her reply made him believe she didn't get it. “I think I preferred when you just called me cute and not opportunistic.” He ate some of his chicken, tasted the mushrooms. “You went to the school, right? What was it called again...?” MADE BY ★MEULK

I WON'T PLAY YOUI WON'T FACE YOUR FATE AGAIN. She listened as he explained that with time people would get over their obsession which made since given most mental powers worked that way. They lasted for a time and then that was it unless they kept using their power which would no doubt be exhausting after a while. "As long as they don't follow you, I can see how that would work." Roxana said as she worked on creating a small crystal ball within her pocket that one of her hands rested in. She felt a little on edge still and always creating with her power helped relax her a little bit. Plus she was using her power which meant she would be quicker to react with it should anything occur that needed her to use her abilities.
Roxana had been complemented before but it certainly was for her skills ad less on her looks unless she had a job to seduce someone in which looks played a role. Even still, they never really clicked on her mind when she was working because she was playing a role but when she was just herself it was weird to hear such things. She didn't really know if she should take it as a complement or not but assumed he meant no ill by it. His next comment had to be a joke then since she was certainly not talking about the two of them having children. Rox hesitated a moment, trying to make sure that he was joking by reading his facial expression.
"Joke, correct?" Roxana just ended up asking, just wanting to be sure so she could pick up on his face for when he was joking to keep in mind for their interaction from here on. "I will eventually need to have children, but I'm the youngest so it's not a priority at this time." Rox did clarify, just in case he was not joking. She was the youngest after all and it was not like she was absolutely needed to pass on the genes. Her oldest sister was already taking care of that and there as talk of matching her brother to someone. As for her stance on who she worked for, Rox didn't really care at the end of the day what people liked to hear. She only cared about succeeded in the task and even that desire was starting to wane as she felt herself...well feeling more. The young woman's shoulders shrugged slightly at the first statement followed by her moving her chicken around in the dressing, trying to mix the salad up a little better.
They always had everything just sit on top of the lettuces instead of properly tossing it. "As long as I'm successful in the task given to me, I'm pretty much free to do what I want and when I want. I have not had a follower in a while and if I did, I would lose them." Roxana answered. To her personally none of her answers were giving anything away that was a secrete so she was fine sharing. However, she was getting tired of talking given the fact she was not one for too much talking. She tried but she honestly preferred to listen and make short comments. "Fair point." Rox simply replied in response to Arnaud's words of having too much confidence also led to losing battles. It was indeed a balancing act in terms of having hope and too much confidence. A brow raised at the young man's next words.
"I never called you cute and you are one." Rox pointed out, giving a general gesture at the situation with her salad fork. "I wen to several. You are asking me a lot of question. How about you tell me a bit more about yourself before I say anything more." Roxana said, partly wanting a break from talking but mostly because he was asking a lot and she felt like she needed to know a bit more about him. [googlefont=Bitter]

Yes, they could be following him, as his previous explanation proved but so far Arnaud thought he was fine. They grew over it with time. He supposed it might become dangerous if he ever ended up using it on one of those psychos who could do those things without even someone manipulating them in the first place but that never happened thus far and he could only pray it would never. Should he be surprised that she asked if that was a joke? He laughed and continued when she explained how that was no priority for her. She had a weird way of saying she would want children, using the word need instead, but he opted to ignore her choice of words. “That makes two of us.” Then again, Rox loved reminded him how his power could have him killed on the spot when he’ll be discovered so perhaps he should be thinking about making a few babies just in case, but he didn't see himself going to women to ask if he couldn’t continue his family line with them. That reminded him of something. Wasn’t there an anime character who did that with every woman he met? He didn't watch enough of those to be sure. She sounded pretty confident that no one was following her around now. “You’re just a good little soldier to them,” he pointed out. He was certain they would not fully trust her because she was a mutant but if she was really like what she told him, he could see why they may not see a point in following her around at all times. Besides, wouldn’t that require a lot of men if they needed some to follow their own? Could they go as far as implant a chip to follow them around? Even so, it wasn’t like they could know she was with him, so he relaxed knowing that he was fine. He didn’t care so much if she ended up in trouble with them for going out. That would be her problem, not his. Was he opportunistic? Maybe. He had no problem being with someone for what they could give him but he also didn't think he was a parasite who lived only out of others and would jump ship as soon as they stopped being useful to him. Well, maybe he would if he was offered something better but he viewed it as something everyone did and so was not ashamed of it. He wanted to ask what she meant by several but she was already arguing that she answered enough questions and that it was now his turn. “I never went to any,” he answered as though she asked him to answer his own question. A light smile curled up his lips. “You can ask away but I allow myself not to answer if I don’t want to.” It was only fair as he was certain she was not telling him everything either. MADE BY ★MEULK
